(Q)Can all concrete be polished?
(A)Generally speaking YES. Extensively damaged concrete may not be a good candidate. Very soft concrete is more time consuming to achieve good results.

(Q)Can I have around my pool or external areas done?
(A)Polished/Honed concrete performs exceptionally well externally. Surface is honed to a 200 or 400 grit finish enabling good slip resistance.

(Q)How long will the job take?
(A)Time can vary. New concrete on an open slab compared to a 20 year old existing surface, concrete hardness & job complexity all determine time schedule.

(Q)I would like polished concrete, when is the best time to have the job done?
(A)Existing concrete, before final painting and fitting of any new fixtures. For new concrete 7 days after concrete placement for initial work then completed after framing stage.

(Q)How much does polished concrete cost?
(A)Cost will vary. Existing work will cost up to 25% more than new work. Job size site access and /or complexity. (Contact us) for pricing.

(Q)Who places the concrete?
(A)Ultimate Floors can arrange the concrete crews if required or consult your concrete supplier, they generally have lists of concreters that are experienced in this type of finishing.

(Q)Are there things I should know before building?
(A)Plan your project early. Choose your concrete supplier, colour type and aggregates to be used. If there are to be customized features like glass, shells, brass, logos, feature strips and decorative cuts, all need to be arranged as early as practical.

(Q)There is existing floor covering, can the concrete still be polished?
(A)Care needs to be taken when removing hard materials like tiles or timber direct to concrete. Our floor stripping division can take care of removal work if required.
